I have this wooden TV unit that I painted and distressed myself, it takes pride of place and is the focal point in my living room. Unfortunately I have found that when things are handmade they are not as robust and resistant to a good old scrubbing without removing some of the paint, not to mention all my hard work! So you can imagine my frustration when I found a few nasty tea stains on my mini masterpiece. At first attempted to wipe it down with water but the stain was stubborn and set in, so after some deep thought I came across this simple & natural method for stain removal - lemon juice! And you won't believe how well it works. It is both natural & gentle, (I use it to whiten my teeth daily so I was confident it was the best option for my once white TV unit) also it is low enough for my son to reach so I didn't fancy using any harsh chemicals as he plays with his toys & occasionally eats his snacks off there. So anyway here is how I did it, & a few photos to follow in this slideshow..
So as you can see there were some really tough sticky marks (from grubby little fingers) alongside the watermarks/tea stains that also needed removing with as little damage possible, if you're interested in trying this out for yourself then all you need to do is follow these steps:

- Cut a fresh lemon in half and squeeze out the juice (if you don't have a juicer like myself then a fork will do the job just fine, just make sure you have a sieve over the bowl to catch any seeds or pulp)
- Using a cotton pad, dip it in the fresh lemon juice and apply to the affected areas
- Leave for a few minutes ( depending on the intensity of the stain)
- Gently wipe with a water soaked cotton pad
